The Anchor Line restaurant is in the old Anchor Line offices. From the 1880s-1940s, the company was known for sleek comfortable ships and affordable prices. Some of the finest marine artists were employed to create beautiful posters. It played on its Scottish roots, advertising "Scottish ships and Scottish crew for Scottish passengers."   The Anchor Line restaurant is chock-a-block with ocean liner memorabilia; the food and service are great. We wore historic Anchor Line pins and they graciously let us snoop around

We love the architect/designer Charles Rennie Macintosh who designed the Willow Tea Room in 1903.
We took a two-hour tour of three floors of dining rooms with a very knowledgeable guide.

The Salon De Luxe, a lavender and silver-toned dining room was designed to attract a female clientele.  Noted as Mackintosh's most elaborate and certainly his largest design in leaded glass, these doors lead to the Salon De Luxe.

The Back Saloon features dark paneling and green carpeting to evoke a woodland glade.   The Men's Billiards and Smoking Room employs dark wood, forest green textiles, shaded lighting, and moody, heavy fixed interiors.

Mackintosh's wife, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, crafted a gesso panel, titled after the first line in the third sonnet of Rossetti’s cycle of four, O Ye, All Ye That Walk In Willowwood   Mr. Paul Top Hat in the Willow Tea Room shop.

Here's the weekly pro-Palestinian protest.
